We don’t have an American Healthcare System, at least, not in the USA. We have a highway system, an air traffic system, a tax system, and a postal system; unitary wholes managed to the benefit of the people of this nation.
Industry: the ownership and management of companies, factories, etc. (dictionary.com)
We have a health care industry, a collection of businesses all competing to get the most money from their customers. Just like the tobacco industry, the fossil-fuel industry, the automotive industry, and the banking industry.
