Honestly, this all started out with an idea for bumper stickers. Then I decided I should start a blog to explain the bumper stickers. So I read up a little, watched some YouTube videos, and got myself a website, and a CafePress storefront. Then I started to get into WordPress, which probably isn’t any more difficult than a lot of the other software I use, but I just didn’t have the time and energy to really get into it. It sat idle, and then The Fortunate Son got elected again and started attacking the whole Great American Democratic Experiment, and I decided it was time to put it out there no matter how crude.
As you can see in the posts, I’m really fed up with this idea that progressives are anti-American. And I’m also pretty disturbed that progressives have mostly let conservatives claim people like Jefferson, Washington, Lincoln, and Theodore Roosevelt, who were some of the most progressive practical politicians of their time, despite the obvious shortcomings of people from a very different, more ignorant time. So I want to present a little different perspective, and really, just get the idea that universal healthcare and environmental protections are for the good of the nation, which means they’re a lot more patriotic than letting people die because they can’t afford their medications.
And really, I just love the idea of these bumper stickers all over, hopefully getting people to reexamine their assumptions about what’s patriotic (making it better) or not (going backwards.)
I also turned off comments, because I don’t have time or energy to manage them and I really don’t want to put up with the vitriol that I’d be foolish not to expect.
I’m also going to try to keep the posts short and to the point, which is a little difficult for me once I get on a roll. Hopefully this will be the longest of the bunch.
One of these days maybe I’ll decide to dig into WordPress and make this site something to behold. But for now, please have patience with the ugly, poorly organized site, and at least think about these ideas.
Did I mention bumper stickers? My CafePress store is also kind of a mess – long story – but it’s worth a look.
I do have a feedback email, rather sarcastically titled blather@progpatriots.com. Maybe that wasn’t the best idea.
Thanks for whatever time you can spend here!
